1911 Grip Profiles

alt

The above diagram is of the different 1911 grip profiles we offer here at VZ Grips®. We slightly sand the bottom of the grips just enough to take the annoying 90º edge off of them. This allows the end user to mate all grips up to factory and aftermarket magwells. If you should want a more traditional bevel on the bottom , please call in your order as it would be considered a custom order but without any additional charge. We also take the time to bevel around the mainspring housing pin cut on the standard grips. This area is of much concern as most grip manufacturers leave this area pointy, sharp, and annoying. Just one of the many details that sets us apart from the others.

Ambi-Cuts
Ambi-cuts are the cuts that we need to cut into the right grip panel so that your ambidextrous thumb safety can engage and disengage. Not all 1911\'s have this; it\'s usually an aftermarket safety that is installed for the left handed shooter. Most ambidextrous thumb safeties will need this cut. There a few that will not. If you run a footless King ambi-safety or one of the newer Kimbers you will not need this special cut for your ambi-safety to work. You will be able to tell if you need it, there will be a little foot that sprouts off the safety and protrudes under the right grip panel. This is actually the only way the thumb safety stays in place. Not the best design, but it works. If your right side grip safety does not have this, you don\'t need the special cut. See the pictures below.
