The Gator Back 1911 grip is what started it all. This is the original VZ Grip that got us started way back in 2003. Back then our founder (and still owner), John VanZyck, was involved in competition 1911 shooting, but couldn't find a quality grip that satisfied his needs as shooter. At the time, almost no one in the industry was using Micarta, much less G-10 for gun grips; only woods and plastics. So Mr. VanZyck set about designing and producing the Gator Back, initially using Micarta, but eventually migrating to G-10. In addition to a much wider variety of colors, G-10 provides a sharper, more durable, and less forgiving texture that doesn't loose any of its purchase over time or when the shooter's hands get sweaty.

VZ's 1911 grips are designed to fit all of the most popular compact (Officer’s) 1911 models from Colt®, Springfield Armory®, Kimber®, Rock Island Armory®, Dan Wesson Firearms®, and many more.
